NICOLAS DE STAËL (1914-1955) René Char, Poèmes the complete artist's book comprising fourteen woodcuts, on Arches paper, 1952, signed in felt-tip pen on the justification page by the artist and author, number 60 of 105, published by Jacques Dubourg, Paris, loose (as issued), with the table of contents, title and justification pages, text in French by René Char, each the full sheet, in generally good condition, together with the original covered wrapper with title and portfolio slipcase Overall: 15 x 11 5 ⁄ 8 x 2 in. (381 x 295 x 51 mm.)

It achieved a price of USD 7,560.00 (€ 6,847.83), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 51%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicolas de Staël achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Parc des Princes (Les grands footballeurs) in October 2019 with an auction result of EUR 20,000,000.00.

Die Arbeit René Char, Poèmes von Nicolas de Staël wurde im April diesen Jahres in der Auktion The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples: Online bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 7.560,00 (€ 6.847,83) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 51%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nicolas de Staël erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Parc des Princes (Les grands footballeurs) im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 20.000.000,00.
