Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Flowers Beyond the Sunset by Milo Matthieu was auctioned at Phillips in New York in September this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,080.00 (€ 4,799.70). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Milo Matthieu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Los Siete Infantes in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 176,400.00 (€ 152,371.08).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Flowers Beyond the Sunset von Milo Matthieu im September diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.080,00 (€ 4.799,70) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Milo Matthieu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Los Siete Infantes im September 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 176.400,00 (€ 152.371,08).
