Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sly II by Milo Matthieu was auctioned at Phillips in Hong Kong in June last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 200,000.00 – 400,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 189,000.00 (€ 22,999.90). Admittedly, works by Milo Matthieu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Los Siete Infantes in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 176,400.00 (€ 152,371.08).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sly II von Milo Matthieu im Juni letzten Jahres bei Phillips in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 200.000,00 – 400.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 189.000,00 (€ 22.999,90) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Milo Matthieu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Los Siete Infantes im September 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 176.400,00 (€ 152.371,08).
