Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Miguel Covarrubias achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May last year. In the Modern Day Auction auction, the work Dos Balinesas sold for USD 567,000.00 (€ 528,375.73) - well above the upper estimate of USD 200,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Miguel Covarrubias; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot In Preparation Of A Balinese Ceremony sold at auction in October 2014 with the realized price of HKD 8,440,000.00 (€ 868,922.59).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Miguel Covarrubias erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Dos Balinesas für USD 567.000,00 (€ 528.375,73) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 200.000,00.
