This artwork by Miguel Covarrubias achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in November this year. In the Impressionist & Modern Art auction, the work Food Stand in Bali sold for USD 356,100.00 (€ 326,457.65) - well above the upper estimate of USD 180,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Miguel Covarrubias - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work In Preparation Of A Balinese Ceremony, which sold at auction in October 2014 for HKD 8,440,000.00 (€ 868,922.59).
