Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait (Foto) mit Tätowierung (Portrait (photo) with Tattoo) (see C. AD109) by Meret Oppenheim was sold in the Editions & Works on Paper auction at Phillips in New York in April this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,080.00 (€ 978.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Meret Oppenheim achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Condition Humaine in November 2016 with an auction result of GBP 197,000.00 (€ 232,440.63).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait (Foto) mit Tätowierung (Portrait (photo) with Tattoo) (see C. AD109) von Meret Oppenheim wurde im April diesen Jahres in der Auktion Editions & Works on Paper bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.080,00 (€ 978,26) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Meret Oppenheim erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La Condition Humaine im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 197.000,00 (€ 232.440,63).
