Auction result well in line with expectations
In April this year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work Jardin Japonais (Japanese Garden) (C. Z308) by Meret Oppenheim. It changed hands for a price of USD 1,905.00 (€ 1,725.54) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Meret Oppenheim achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Condition Humaine in November 2016 with an auction result of GBP 197,000.00 (€ 232,440.63).
