Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Martin Puryear could be acquired at Christies in New York in May last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Lurk changed hands for USD 220,000.00 (€ 205,013.51) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00. Admittedly, works by Martin Puryear have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,805,000.00 (€ 1,323,313.78).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Martin Puryear konnte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale wechselte die Arbeit Lurk für USD 220.000,00 (€ 205.013,51) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Martin Puryear auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.805.000,00 (€ 1.323.313,78).
