Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Cellular by Martha Rosler was sold in the Contemporary Art auction at Sothebys in New York in September 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,806.16) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Martha Rosler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bringing The War Home: House Beautiful in May 2006 with an auction result of USD 156,000.00 (€ 121,561.60).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Cellular von Martha Rosler wurde im September 2012 in der Auktion Contemporary Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.750,00 (€ 6.806,16) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Martha Rosler erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bringing The War Home: House Beautiful im Mai 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 156.000,00 (€ 121.561,60).
