In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern Day Auction, which included the work Sagebrush by Marsden Hartley. The »bidding war« ended at USD 189,000.00 (€ 176,125.24), 26% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marsden Hartley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pre-War Pageant in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 27,395,000.00 (€ 24,194,118.17).

Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Modern Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sagebrush von Marsden Hartley zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 189.000,00 (€ 176.125,24) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Marsden Hartley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pre-War Pageant im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 27.395.000,00 (€ 24.194.118,17).
