Despite a disappointment, a good price for Marsden Hartley
When the work Pre-War Pageant by Marsden Hartley was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000,000.00 – 30,000,001.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 27,395,000.00 (€ 24,194,118.17). Despite this disappointing result, Pre-War Pageant is the most expensive artwork by Marsden Hartley that we have observed at auction so far.
Trotz Enttäuschung ein guter Preis für Marsden Hartley
Als die Arbeit Pre-War Pageant von Marsden Hartley im November 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus.
