Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Maria Farrar achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2020. In the First Open: Post-War & Contemporary Art Online auction, the work Birthday sold for GBP 23,750.00 (€ 26,491.32) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Maria Farrar - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Wave, which sold at auction in October 2020 for GBP 87,500.00 (€ 97,161.29).

In der Auktion First Open: Post-War & Contemporary Art Online wurde die Arbeit Birthday für GBP 23.750,00 (€ 26.491,32) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 8.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Maria Farrar mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Wave beobachtet, die im Oktober 2020 für GBP 87.500,00 (€ 97.161,29) versteigert wurde.
