Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Li Wei Falls to HK by Li Wei was auctioned at Phillips in London in April last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,890.00 (€ 2,253.76). Admittedly, works by Li Wei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Freedegree Over 29Th Story, Soho, Beijing, 2003 in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 14,310.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Li Wei Falls to HK von Li Wei im April letzten Jahres bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.890,00 (€ 2.253,76) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Li Wei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Freedegree Over 29Th Story, Soho, Beijing, 2003 im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 14.310,49).
