Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Eve on Psilocybin by Kudzanai-Violet Hwami was auctioned at Phillips in New York in December 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 40,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at USD 252,000.00 (€ 206,050.70). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Kudzanai-Violet Hwami; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Skye Wanehanda (I) sold at auction in April 2021 with the realized price of HKD 3,780,000.00 (€ 404,708.23).
Kunstwerk zum Sechsfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Eve on Psilocybin von Kudzanai-Violet Hwami im Dezember 2020 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 40.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 252.000,00 (€ 206.050,70) mehr als sechsmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Kudzanai-Violet Hwami; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Skye Wanehanda (I) im April 2021 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 3.780.000,00 (€ 404.708,23).
