This artwork by Kudzanai-Violet Hwami achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March 2021. In the Modern and Contemporary African Art auction, the work Tampon Incision Study 3 (SJW) sold for GBP 138,600.00 (€ 162,819.30) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kudzanai-Violet Hwami - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Skye Wanehanda (I), which sold at auction in April 2021 for HKD 3,780,000.00 (€ 404,708.23).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Kudzanai-Violet Hwami erzielte im März 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art wurde die Arbeit Tampon Incision Study 3 (SJW) für GBP 138.600,00 (€ 162.819,30) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 50.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Kudzanai-Violet Hwami mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Skye Wanehanda (I) beobachtet, die im April 2021 für HKD 3.780.000,00 (€ 404.708,23) versteigert wurde.
