In March last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Discoveries, which included the work "Souvenir 1" Pillow Sham by Kerry James Marshall. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,016.00 (€ 1,817.36), 68% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kerry James Marshall achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Past Times in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 21,114,500.00 (€ 18,092,973.44).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 68 % übertroffen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Discoveries durch, in der auch die Arbeit "Souvenir 1" Pillow Sham von Kerry James Marshall zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.016,00 (€ 1.817,36) und damit 68% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kerry James Marshall erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Past Times im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 21.114.500,00 (€ 18.092.973,44).
