Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Whimsical Evolution 1 by Justin John Greene was auctioned at Phillips in New York in October this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 254.00 (€ 240.35). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Justin John Greene achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Slob is Dead in October last year with an auction result of GBP 10,080.00 (€ 11,743.09).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Whimsical Evolution 1 von Justin John Greene im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 254,00 (€ 240,35) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Justin John Greene erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Slob is Dead im Oktober letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.080,00 (€ 11.743,09).
