Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Ghostwriter by Justin John Greene was auctioned at Phillips in London in December this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,651.00 (€ 1,901.89). Admittedly, works by Justin John Greene have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Slob is Dead in October last year with an auction result of GBP 10,080.00 (€ 11,743.09).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Ghostwriter von Justin John Greene im Dezember diesen Jahres bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.651,00 (€ 1.901,89) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Justin John Greene auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Slob is Dead im Oktober letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.080,00 (€ 11.743,09).
