This artwork by Josephine Halvorson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2018. In the The Collection of Melva Bucksbaum: Post-War and Contemporary Art, Photographs and Prints auction, the work Hinge sold for USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,618.43) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Josephine Halvorson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Slats sold at auction in November 2019 with the realized price of USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,344.04).
