Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2003 Christies in London held the auction POST-WAR AND CONTEMPORARY, which included the work Homenaje a Mallarmé by Jorge Oteiza. It changed hands for a price of GBP 65,725.00 (€ 95,956.43) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jorge Oteiza have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Round circulation with signs in the Basque landscape/orreaga in October 2020 with an auction result of EUR 920,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion POST-WAR AND CONTEMPORARY durch, in der auch die Arbeit Homenaje a Mallarmé von Jorge Oteiza zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 65.725,00 (€ 95.956,43) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 50.000,00 – 70.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jorge Oteiza auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Round circulation with signs in the Basque landscape/orreaga im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 920.000,00.
