Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Thomson could be acquired at Christies in New York in April 2017 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Portrait of a Collector: The John M. Bransten Collection of Photographs auction, the work Hookey Alf,' of Whitechapel from Street Life in London, c. 1877 changed hands for USD 250.00 (€ 229.46) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Thomson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hillside On Big Cauchon Lake - Algonquin Park in June 2010 with an auction result of CAD 462,500.00 (€ 354,767.72).
