Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Lake Freighter by John Thomson was auctioned at Sothebys in Toronto in November 2010, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - CAD 7,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at CAD 30,000.00 (€ 22,414.85). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Thomson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hillside On Big Cauchon Lake - Algonquin Park in June 2010 with an auction result of CAD 462,500.00 (€ 354,767.72).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Lake Freighter von John Thomson im November 2010 bei Sothebys in Toronto versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – CAD 7.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit CAD 30.000,00 (€ 22.414,85) mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Thomson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Hillside On Big Cauchon Lake - Algonquin Park im Juni 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CAD 462.500,00 (€ 354.767,72).
