In June this year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work The Line Storm by John Steuart Curry. The »bidding war« ended at USD 5,760.00 (€ 5,274.73), 44% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Steuart Curry achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Preliminary Study for a Mural: Oklahoma Land Rush in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 175,500.00 (€ 149,158.59).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 44 % übertroffen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Prints & Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Line Storm von John Steuart Curry zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 5.760,00 (€ 5.274,73) und damit 44% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Steuart Curry erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Preliminary Study for a Mural: Oklahoma Land Rush im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 175.500,00 (€ 149.158,59).
