Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work A sketch book of studies of foxhounds, hunting scenes, and various studies by John Charlton was worth GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,555.07) to a buyer in July 2010. This price was achieved in the auction The Althorp Attic Sale - Including the Spencer Carriages at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 700.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Charlton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'God save the Queen': Queen Victoria arriving at St Paul's Cathedral on the Occasion of the Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving Service, 22 June 1897 in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 55,875.00 (€ 63,846.93).
