Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Charlton could be acquired at Christies in London in July last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and European Art auction, the work Gone to Ground changed hands for GBP 5,040.00 (€ 6,018.66) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Charlton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'God save the Queen': Queen Victoria arriving at St Paul's Cathedral on the Occasion of the Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving Service, 22 June 1897 in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 55,875.00 (€ 63,846.93).
