Auction result well in line with expectations
The work They All Drew To The Fire by Jessie Willcox Smith was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2014. The price achieved of USD 125,000.00 (€ 100,498.47) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jessie Willcox Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work How Doth the Little Busy Bee, which sold at auction in April 2011 for USD 386,500.00 (€ 260,778.62).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 125.000,00 (€ 100.498,47) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Jessie Willcox Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit How Doth the Little Busy Bee beobachtet, die im April 2011 für USD 386.500,00 (€ 260.778,62) versteigert wurde.
