In March 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, which included the work The Sewing Lesson by Jessie Willcox Smith. The »bidding war« ended at USD 67,000.00 (€ 42,391.65), 34% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Jessie Willcox Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work How Doth the Little Busy Bee in April 2011 with an auction result of USD 386,500.00 (€ 260,778.62).

Im März 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Sewing Lesson von Jessie Willcox Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 67.000,00 (€ 42.391,65) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jessie Willcox Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit How Doth the Little Busy Bee im April 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 386.500,00 (€ 260.778,62).
