Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dream Blocks by Jessie Willcox Smith was sold in the American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in December 2011. The price achieved of USD 122,500.00 (€ 94,426.89) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jessie Willcox Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work How Doth the Little Busy Bee, which sold at auction in April 2011 for USD 386,500.00 (€ 260,778.62).

Die Arbeit Dream Blocks von Jessie Willcox Smith wurde im Dezember 2011 in der Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 122.500,00 (€ 94.426,89) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Jessie Willcox Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit How Doth the Little Busy Bee beobachtet, die im April 2011 für USD 386.500,00 (€ 260.778,62) versteigert wurde.
