Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Hurdy Gurdy Man (Lilac) by Jennifer Steinkamp was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 21,250.00 (€ 20,088.86) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jennifer Steinkamp have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Judy Crook in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 118,750.00 (€ 87,060.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Hurdy Gurdy Man (Lilac) von Jennifer Steinkamp kam im November 2016 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 21.250,00 (€ 20.088,86) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jennifer Steinkamp auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Judy Crook im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 118.750,00 (€ 87.060,12).
