Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mujer Piedra II by Javier Marín was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 27,720.00 (€ 24,559.23). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Javier Marín - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Torso de hombre amarillo, which sold at auction in September this year for USD 100,800.00 (€ 95,238.10).
