Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Adam And Eve by Jack Levine was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 56,250.00 (€ 42,520.22). Other works by Jack Levine have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in December 2011 by the work The Princess at USD 86,500.00 (€ 66,676.94).
