engraving, circa 1480, a very good impression of Lehrs' second state (of eight), Hollstein's third state (of nine), comparing favourably to the example of the same state in the British Museum, trimmed within the platemark but with a small margin outside the borderline all around, a pale brown stain on the table, an unprinted hairline on the figure of the man seated at centre, a thin spot and associated paper disturbance at the upper left corner only visible verso, generally in very good condition

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Christ at Emmaus (B. 21; G. 119 I; L. 153 II; Holl. 153 III) by Israhel van Meckenem was sold in the Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints auction at Christies in London in September 2006. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 15,600.00 (€ 23,013.29). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Israhel van Meckenem - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bust of an Oriental Man, which sold at auction in January 2019 for USD 81,250.00 (€ 70,935.92).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Christ at Emmaus (B. 21; G. 119 I; L. 153 II; Holl. 153 III) von Israhel van Meckenem wurde im September 2006 in der Auktion Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 15.600,00 (€ 23.013,29) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Israhel van Meckenem mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bust of an Oriental Man beobachtet, die im Januar 2019 für USD 81.250,00 (€ 70.935,92) versteigert wurde.
