engraving, circa 1465-1500, on laid paper, without watermark, a very good impression of this extremely rare print, one of only three known impressions, printing with a light tone and a finger mark below, trimmed inside the borderline on three sides and just outside at lower right, generally in very good condition

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The King of Men, from: The Large Deck of Playing Cards by Israhel van Meckenem was sold in the Old Master Prints auction at Christies in New York in January 2019. Here, the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 56,250.00 (€ 49,109.48). Other works by Israhel van Meckenem have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of USD 81,250.00 (€ 70,935.92) in January 2019 for the work Bust of an Oriental Man.

Die Arbeit The King of Men, from: The Large Deck of Playing Cards von Israhel van Meckenem wurde im Januar 2019 in der Auktion Old Master Prints bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 56.250,00 (€ 49.109,48) einen neuen Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Israhel van Meckenem haben noch höhere Preise erzielt - wir haben das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis von USD 81.250,00 (€ 70.935,92) im Januar 2019 für die Arbeit Bust of an Oriental Man beobachtet.
