Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Marginalia (Hand On Forehead/Squatting): A Diptych by Ida Applebroog was sold in the Joy, Love and Peace: The Peter B. Lewis Collection auction at Sothebys in New York in March 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,250.00 (€ 3,025.79) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ida Applebroog - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Knife), which sold at auction in April 2008 for USD 12,500.00 (€ 8,029.29).
