In July 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Online | New York, which included the work The Stark Hotel by H. C. Westermann. The »bidding war« ended at USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,354.00), 72% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by H. C. Westermann have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Rosebud in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 137,000.00 (€ 123,035.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 72 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Online | New York durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Stark Hotel von H. C. Westermann zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 13.750,00 (€ 12.354,00) und damit 72% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von H. C. Westermann auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Rosebud im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 137.000,00 (€ 123.035,47).
