Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Gordon Matta-Clark achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in February 2016. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work Splitting: Number 26 + 27 sold for GBP 56,250.00 (€ 72,077.43) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 22,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gordon Matta-Clark - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pier 52 ( # 4), which sold at auction in October 2016 for GBP 131,000.00 (€ 145,937.97).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Gordon Matta-Clark erzielte im Februar 2016 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Splitting: Number 26 + 27 für GBP 56.250,00 (€ 72.077,43) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 22.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Gordon Matta-Clark mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Pier 52 ( # 4) beobachtet, die im Oktober 2016 für GBP 131.000,00 (€ 145.937,97) versteigert wurde.
