A top price for Gordon Matta-Clark
When the work Pier 52 ( # 4) by Gordon Matta-Clark was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2016, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 35,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 131,000.00 (€ 145,937.97). This high result makes Pier 52 ( # 4) the most expensive artwork by Gordon Matta-Clark that we have observed at auctions so far.

Als die Arbeit Pier 52 ( # 4) von Gordon Matta-Clark im Oktober 2016 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 35.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 131.000,00 (€ 145.937,97) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Dieses hohe Ergebnis macht Pier 52 ( # 4) zu dem teuersten Kunstwerk von Gordon Matta-Clark, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
