Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Curated featuring works from “In Its Own Light: Property from the Collection of Ed Cohen and Victoria Shaw”, which included the work Self Portrait As My Sister Jane Wearing by Gillian Wearing. The »bidding war« ended at USD 23,750.00 (€ 22,200.41), 19% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gillian Wearing - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Self-Portrait at 17 Years Old (from Album), which sold at auction in May last year for USD 63,000.00 (€ 58,708.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März 2017 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Curated featuring works from “In Its Own Light: Property from the Collection of Ed Cohen and Victoria Shaw” durch, in der auch die Arbeit Self Portrait As My Sister Jane Wearing von Gillian Wearing zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 23.750,00 (€ 22.200,41) und damit 19% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Gillian Wearing mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Self-Portrait at 17 Years Old (from Album) beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 63.000,00 (€ 58.708,41) versteigert wurde.
