Auction result well in line with expectations
In October last year Phillips in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Selected Images from Signs that Say What You Want Them to Say and Not Signs that Say What Someone Else Wants You to Say by Gillian Wearing. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 25,200.00 (€ 25,367.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gillian Wearing - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Self-Portrait at 17 Years Old (from Album), which sold at auction in May last year for USD 63,000.00 (€ 58,708.41).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Selected Images from Signs that Say What You Want Them to Say and Not Signs that Say What Someone Else Wants You to Say von Gillian Wearing zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 25.200,00 (€ 25.367,43) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Gillian Wearing mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Self-Portrait at 17 Years Old (from Album) beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 63.000,00 (€ 58.708,41) versteigert wurde.
