In February 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Wonderland by George Shaw. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 26,250.00 (€ 33,636.13), 31% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Shaw - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Undergrowth, which sold at auction in June 2013 for GBP 79,875.00 (€ 93,228.43).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 31 % übertroffen
Im Februar 2016 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Wonderland von George Shaw zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 26.250,00 (€ 33.636,13) und damit 31% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von George Shaw mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Undergrowth beobachtet, die im Juni 2013 für GBP 79.875,00 (€ 93.228,43) versteigert wurde.
