Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Lovers in Red by George Rouy was worth GBP 73,660.00 (€ 83,802.48) to a buyer in March this year. This price was achieved in the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale at Phillips in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Rouy - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Looking At Me Through Gaps Of Her Toes, which sold at auction in March this year for GBP 162,540.00 (€ 184,920.65).

Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Phillips in London erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von George Rouy mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Looking At Me Through Gaps Of Her Toes beobachtet, die im März diesen Jahres für GBP 162.540,00 (€ 184.920,65) versteigert wurde.
