Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work An old man smiling with a red neckerchief; and two companion paintings by Franz Xavier Wölfle was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 960.00 (€ 814.25). Admittedly, works by Franz Xavier Wölfle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Tyrolean gentleman smoking a pipe; and Another of a Tyrolean gentleman with a feather in his hat in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 2,585.00 (€ 3,714.79).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit An old man smiling with a red neckerchief; and two companion paintings von Franz Xavier Wölfle im November 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 960,00 (€ 814,25) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Franz Xavier Wölfle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Tyrolean gentleman smoking a pipe; and Another of a Tyrolean gentleman with a feather in his hat im Juni 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.585,00 (€ 3.714,79).
