Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Portrait of an old man smoking a pipe; and Another similar by Franz Xavier Wölfle was auctioned at Christies in London in February 2002. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,725.74). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Franz Xavier Wölfle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Tyrolean gentleman smoking a pipe; and Another of a Tyrolean gentleman with a feather in his hat, which sold at auction in June 2003 for GBP 2,585.00 (€ 3,714.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Portrait of an old man smoking a pipe; and Another similar von Franz Xavier Wölfle kam im Februar 2002 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 1.057,50 (€ 1.725,74) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Franz Xavier Wölfle mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Tyrolean gentleman smoking a pipe; and Another of a Tyrolean gentleman with a feather in his hat beobachtet, die im Juni 2003 für GBP 2.585,00 (€ 3.714,79) versteigert wurde.
