Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Back Of Jay by Evan Penny was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 15,000.00 (€ 12,607.16). Admittedly, works by Evan Penny have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work L. Faux: Black & White in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 145,000.00 (€ 93,187.66).
