Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Retrato Imaginario Con Pasamanos by Ernesto Deira was sold in the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 32,500.00 (€ 29,150.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ernesto Deira - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in May 2012 for USD 86,500.00 (€ 69,961.18).

Die Arbeit Retrato Imaginario Con Pasamanos von Ernesto Deira wurde im Mai 2019 in der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 32.500,00 (€ 29.150,60) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Ernesto Deira mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im Mai 2012 für USD 86.500,00 (€ 69.961,18) versteigert wurde.
