In September 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Curated featuring works from the Collection of Joni Gordon of Newspace Gallery, which included this untitled work by De Wain Valentine. The »bidding war« ended at USD 43,750.00 (€ 34,645.23), 46% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by De Wain Valentine - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Concave Crystal, 1986, which sold at auction in February this year for USD 101,175.00 (€ 95,430.11).

Im September 2014 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Curated featuring works from the Collection of Joni Gordon of Newspace Gallery durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von De Wain Valentine zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 34.645,23) und damit 46% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von De Wain Valentine mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Concave Crystal, 1986 beobachtet, die im Februar diesen Jahres für USD 101.175,00 (€ 95.430,11) versteigert wurde.
