Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work City Watcher (From The Cosplayers Series) by Cao Fei was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,560.83). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cao Fei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Silent Curse, Nada At Home, Diversionist And City Watcher (Four Works) in October 2009 with an auction result of HKD 187,500.00 (€ 16,392.75).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit City Watcher (From The Cosplayers Series) von Cao Fei im November 2017 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.375,00 (€ 1.560,83) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cao Fei erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Silent Curse, Nada At Home, Diversionist And City Watcher (Four Works) im Oktober 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 187.500,00 (€ 16.392,75).
