Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Cao Fei could be acquired at Christies in New York in November 2017 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Asian Contemporary Art Online: featuring the Chaney Family Collection auction, the work Golden Fighter's Despair (Cosplayers Series) changed hands for USD 3,750.00 (€ 3,151.79) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Cao Fei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Silent Curse, Nada At Home, Diversionist And City Watcher (Four Works) in October 2009 with an auction result of HKD 187,500.00 (€ 16,392.75).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Cao Fei konnte im November 2017 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Asian Contemporary Art Online: featuring the Chaney Family Collection wechselte die Arbeit Golden Fighter's Despair (Cosplayers Series) für USD 3.750,00 (€ 3.151,79) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cao Fei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Silent Curse, Nada At Home, Diversionist And City Watcher (Four Works) im Oktober 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 187.500,00 (€ 16.392,75).
