Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2017 Christies in New York held the auction Asian Contemporary Art Online: featuring the Chaney Family Collection, which included the work RMB City: A Second Life City Planning No.10 by Cao Fei. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 7,000.00 – 9,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,303.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cao Fei - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Silent Curse, Nada At Home, Diversionist And City Watcher (Four Works), which sold at auction in October 2009 for HKD 187,500.00 (€ 16,392.75).
