Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale, which included the work Menino Com Carneiro by Cândido Portinari. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 300,000.00 – 400,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 315,000.00 (€ 258,323.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Cândido Portinari have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Meninos soltando pipas in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,443,750.00 (€ 1,111,603.02).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Menino Com Carneiro von Cândido Portinari zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 300.000,00 – 400.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 315.000,00 (€ 258.323,77) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cândido Portinari auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Meninos soltando pipas im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.443.750,00 (€ 1.111.603,02).
